Emmy Winner Cady McClain: From Star to Director

Emmy winner Cady McClain sat for an interview during COVID lockdown and offered rich insights into daytime TV, acting as a child and new chapters. The call turned into 2 separate episodes and is now a COVID lockdown highlight for me. Cady is a 3-time Daytime Emmy Award-winner, who I contacted through Twitter… back when that was possible.

Though she’s performed in three different daytime dramas, Cady is best known for her iconic role as Dixie on All My Children. In this second half of the interview, Cady shares her experiences transitioning from daytime TV to director and arts advocate. Her documentary Seeing is Believing: Women Direct highlighted the struggles and triumphs of female filmmakers. Cady refers to the film when offering insights into the creative process and resilience required to thrive in entertainment.

It was a joy to bring Cady’s wisdom and stories to Advanced TV Herstory listeners.
