4 Women of Sisters 1991-96

Show Notes:

As Advanced TV Herstory has examined the 4-female character construction of sitcoms and dramas, host Cynthia Bemis Abrams remains loyal to the Emmy Award winning series, Sisters (1991-1996). The four distinct main characters encounter all sorts of fantasy-like adventures, enabling their mostly female audience to escape reality for an hour each week. Cynthia explores the post-Sisters careers of Swoosie Kurtz, Patricia Kalember, Sela Ward and Julianne Phillips.

Cynthia lists with fascination the many plots that bend reality, which included interracial and inter-faith marriage, three plane crashes, menopause, foster parenting the son of a deceased patient, surviving a coma and many more.
