Reel Women Podcast Series Featuring Margaret Cho

Diverse women in television is the theme of the upcoming podcast series produced with Reel Women’s Ashley Pacini. And yes, we were thrilled when Margaret Cho agreed to an interview.

Backstory

Sometimes we lose sight of the adage “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” Since  COVID lockdown, I’ve connected with people and organizations that share Advanced TV Herstory‘s mission and spirit. The pandemic has delivered tragedy, fear and a deep sense of a loss of order. However, as I stay isolated, it’s been a creative time for the podcast.

This collaborative effort with Ashley Pacini, an entertainment industry veteran who decided to fight back against the invisibility of women creatives and crew. Ashley recruited four women with recent experiences in film or television. The Reel Women site profiles women working in film and TV and makes that archive publicly available. Every woman featured has a full profile on this site and its profile is free to read.

As Ashley and I interview the four – Danielle Earle, Chanel Glover, Sanicole Young and Pepper Reed, we plan to discuss entry into creative fields and what drives them to advance in the field. Our hope is that listeners will find inspiration that they can  apply to all to their own situations. TV pioneer and stand up comic Margaret Cho will talk about representation on TV, how it’s changed over the years and how build the talent pipeline. Cho’s series from 1994-95, All-https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All-American_Girl_(TV_series)American Girl, is milestone television.

Five interviews with diverse women of television is a creative first for Advanced TV Herstory. I look forward to bring you their stories of fortitude, as they overcame –isms. This series offers a spirit and message that could only  happen with collaboration. Stay tuned. I think you’ll enjoy it!
