Guest on “Overdueing It: The Rhode Island Library Podcast”
It’s safe to say we need libraries now more than ever. It was an honor to chat with Lauren Walker for Overdueing It: The Rhode Island Library podcast. We discussed Advanced TV Herstory and our mission: to connect the dots of TV and feminism to American culture and politics. In my research, I rely heavily on my own local library systems for books, online databases and inter-library loans.
So of course we talked about libraries and the unique value of physical media – hang on to your DVD player! In discussing storytelling, we explore the similar, powerful impact TV and books have when under-represented populations see themselves. My addition at the end is a shout out to Hot In Cleveland (2010-2015), a really great sitcom from TV Land. In November, podcaster Karly Beaumont and I talked about comfort TV. I totally spaced on this cleverly written series starring Betty White, Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick. It’s among my top comfort TV favorites.
Listen to “Exploring TV Herstory with Cynthia Bemis Abrams” and check out the Rhode Island Library podcast’s past episodes about children’s museums, Rhode Island features and author interviews. If you like what you see, please subscribe on your podcast app. This is how libraries evolve and continue to serve constituents and patrons. Pretty cool!
