U.S. trademark certificate for ADVANCED TV HERSTORY

My Work and Trademark

My work and trademark started in June 2015. Before I produced my first episode, I explored what I should and shouldn’t do to preserve my own investment in my work. I also wanted to ensure that others could be sure I hadn’t violated theirs. Thus, Advanced TV Herstory adheres to Fair Use Copyright standards. We use clips very sparingly and within an educational context of history. Sources are cited at the end of episodes and in shownotes, and there is no monetization of our  work. It’s ethical and important to respect the work of other creatives, such as writers, performers and photographers.

To protect my own work, I maintain hard copies of every episode’s notes  and scripts, have external hard drives for audio and video files and recently renewed Advanced TV Herstory’s trademark with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. In 2024, an Australian judge ordered Canna Campbell to pay US $75,000 in  legal costs after infringing the name of Rhondalynn Korolak’s Financial Foreplay podcast. That name too is a registered trademark. Artificial Intelligence is another topic I monitor because my work is possibly  being mined to grow AI large language models.

Had i known how complicated podcasting would become, I might have thought twice about launching. But then again… would I be writing this post today?
