Lee Grant and Dinah Manoff have written five star reads that provide fascinating insights into being a woman in Hollywood. Grant’s, I Said Yes to Everything is is a fast-paced read with a fun mix of personal and career storytelling. Grant describes how Hollywood blacklisted her even following McCarthy’s anti-Communist era. As an Oscar and Emmy-winner whose career had lost ground, Grant became a  documentarian.

She directed 45 episodes of Lifetime’s Intimate Portrait (video biographies) series as well as acclaimed documentaries The Willmar 8 and Down and Out in America and many more. Highly recommend.

Grant’s daughter is Dinah Manoff, author of The Real True Hollywood Story of Jackie Gold. Yes, fiction! Once I finished Lee Grant’s memoir, it  made sense to round out my knowledge of the mother-daughter duo by  reading Manoff’s first effort. You may recognize Manoff as one of the  Pink Ladies from Grease or from the barrier-breaking sitcom, Soap.  Manoff isn’t active in show business of late but used many life  experiences to craft this clever and well-written story. Lee Grant and Dinah Manoff are smart Hollywood women. Five stars,  baby!
